Hopefully this document should help those who are trying to convert Ensigns
to iSilo using
iSiloX. This assumes that you have used iSilo & iSiloX before and both are
installed on your computer. I used M$ Internet Explorer v6 on Windows XP for the
example screenshots. The example below shows how to convert the November 2003
(Conference Report) issue.

The Steps
Last updated
- Go to LDS.org and click on the
Gospel Library
link.

- Under Church Publications, click the
HTML link.

- Click to plus (+) to expand Magazines.

- Click the plus to expand Ensign.

- Click the plus to expand 2003.

- Right click on
Ensign November 2003, Select Open in New Window.

- Go up to the address bar and remove everything after the last .htm.
Hit Enter.

- This may change the format of the page a bit, but you should still be at
the same place. The address should be:
http://library.lds.org/nxt/gateway.dll/Magazines/Ensign/2003.htm/ensign%20november%202003.htm
- Go up to your address bar. Highlight the address. Right click the
address and select Copy to copy the link to your clipboard (or hit
Ctrl+C).

- Open iSiloX and create a new document.

- From the file menu, select Document -> Add... (or hit the
[Insert] key).

- Type a title for your document and click the check box to go to the
document properties. Click Next.

- Under the Source tab, click the [Add URL/File...] button.

- Right click in the text box and select Paste (or hit Ctrl+V).
This should place the address of the November Ensign in the text box.

- Click the [OK] button.

- Under the Links tab, set the Maximum link depth to 1 (This will include
all the talks and exclude any script links within the talks. Selecting 2
will include the scripture links but greatly increase the time it takes to
convert and the size of your document.)

- These are the two main settings. You can browse through the other tabs
to customize them as you choose. For example, the destination will display
where the file will be placed once it is converted. Click [OK] on the
properties window when you are done customizing.
- Highlight the new document you added and click the convert button on the
toolbar.

- It may take some time to convert the document depending on how fast your
internet connection speed is. But this should be it. Now just install the
new .pdb file to your PDA and be sure to say hello to the LDS PDA community
at LDSPDA.com!
